Peter Allen Wins Prestigious Award
Peter Allen, the chairman of Aubrey Allen, the West Midlands based butcher from Coventry which supplies many Michelin chefs in the UK, has won this year’s prestigious UK Meat Management Excellence Award, sponsored by DanTech UK Ltd.
The annual award, a highlight in the meat trade calendar which recognises an individual’s outstanding personal contribution to the industry, was presented to Peter Allen at the Royal Garden Hotel in London last week at a commemorative Gala Dinner attended by over 300 guests.
Since his father Aubrey Allen first opened a small butcher’s shop in Coventry in 1933, Peter, aged 64 years, has been the brainchild and inspiration behind growing the family business into a hugely successful world-class butchery operation.
In response to receiving his award, a delighted Peter Allen said: “This is a fantastic accolade and the best recognition, endorsement and honour I could possibly receive from fellow members of the industry. Like me they all share the same appreciation for producing the best of the best quality meat available.
"I am very proud to have been individually nominated by my industry peers for this award, but the success of Aubrey Allen reflects everyone associated with the business, and this could not have been achieved without their collective support, enthusiasm and hard work.
My passion for the business is as strong as it was when my father sent me to learn my trade with others rather than him - this was not just best for my development but a major lesson in life. I developed the inspiration and vision to work with world-class chefs and consistently provide meat of exceptional quality. I am just delighted that I have been able to enrich my father’s legacy and pleased that our three generation family business continues to grow and be successful under the day to day management of my son Russell as managing director", he added.
